AZCentral.com reported today that 26-year-old Jerome Whatton was taken into custody on Friday in connection with an attempted theft at an Albertson's pharmacy.
According to authorities, the robbery occurred when the suspect went into the pharmacy on Thursday with a note demanding that the pharmacist give him all of the store's supply of OxyContin (a strong painkiller that is reportedly often abused). When the store's pharmacist told him that she wasn't able to access the OxyContin, Whatton left the store.
He was later picked up by police and charged with armed robbery.
If you or someone you love has been charged with a theft crime, it is important that you take the time to consult with an experienced Phoenix criminal defense attorney so that you can be sure that your rights are protected.
