ASU Student Arrested in Robbery

AZCentral.com recently reported on a story involving a robbery/assault that occured at a Mesa clothing store last Thursday.

According to the article, 21-year-old Karla Janeth Jauregui was arrested at ASU after being identified in the store's security camera videos.  Jauregui assaulted a clerk at the store with a crowbar in addition to robbing the establishment.  Mesa police stated that Jauregui admitted that she had committed the assault.

Three Killed in School Bus Crash Near Tucson

ABC15.com reported that three people were killed this morning when a school bus was involved in a head-on crash with a four-door sedan.  According to the news article, police investigators believe that the sedan crossed the center line on State Route 86 for an unknown reason resulting in the fatal crash.

Two males and one female in the sedan were pronounced dead when rescue workers arrived at the scene.  Two children on the school bus were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Scottsdale Police Arrest Man in Connection with Murder

AZcentral.com recently reported that Scottsdale resident, 21 year old Nicholas Alexander Renner, was arrested on Saturday on murder and drug charges.  Police also say there were outstanding warrants in his name.

Renner is believed to be connected to the death of Alberto Gonzales on Saturday, September 12.  According to police, an argument resulted in the fatal shooting and strangling of Gonzales.  The gun believed to have been used in the murder was later found on Renner.

Mesa Attorney and Accountant Indicted

Azcentral.com recently reported that a Mesa area attorney and CPA were both indicted on charges of conspiracy to defraud the IRS and also for filing false tax returns.  According to the news story, attorney Steven W. Allen and CPA Allen P. Goodmansen allegedly participated in a scheme to help their clients avoid paying income taxes through the use of offshore accounts between the years of 1997 and 2004.

The attorney faces up to 26 years in prison, if convicted whereas the CPA faces up to 17 years in prison, if convicted.

Phoenix Semi Truck Accident Causes Injuries on Interstate 17

A semi-truck accident was partly the cause of a 3 hour road closure of Interstate 17 on Sunday, reports azcentral.  A semi-tractor trailer and two other vehicles collided, and injuries were reported.  The extent of the injuries is not yet known.  The road was closed to prevent further collisions while an investigation takes place.
