Azcentral.com reported the news that an approximately 12-year-old boy was struck and killed by a semi truck on Monday night at around 8:00 pm.  According to reports, the young boy was on his skateboard in the middle of the road and somehow fell under the truck's tires.  The boy was taken immediately to the hospital, but later died due to the severity of his injuries.

Authorities are still conducting their investigation on the accident and have said that alcohol, drugs and driver speed are not factors in this situation.

AZcentral.com reported that the Phoenix police have arrested a suspect following a deadly shooting Sunday night.  A photo-enforcement employee was fatally shot in his Arizona Department of Public Safety vehicle.  In response to the shooting, photo-enforcement agents and their vehicles were removed from their positions today in order to protect them against possible shootings. 

Though the article did not mention the name of the alleged suspect that the police have in custody, the Phoenix police did say that they would give more information in a press conference later today.

A recent story in the Arizona Republic reported that a man working on the plumbing outside of a Jack in the Box in Mesa suffered a collapsed lung after being stabbed.

The man, whose name has not been released by local law enforcement, was stabbed in the back allegedly by his estranged wife.  According to officers on the scene, witnesses said they saw 41-year-old Monira Gerges approach her husband and stab him in the back.  

Because police believe that Gerges may try to flee the country to return to her native Egypt, they are still holding her.
